Steven Bangerter
Raised in the rockies, Steven Bangerter was born in American Fork, UT. Based in New York City (since August 2023) where he trained in GibneyPRO’s 2023-24 cohort under the direction of Alexandra Wells & Bret Yamanaka. While there, he worked with choreographers; Peter Chu, Ana Maria Lucaciu, Laja Field, Adam Barruch, Lea Ved & Sidra Bell.
Steve is currently a resident at the McKittrick Hotel performing in Punchdrunk’s Sleep No More in New York City. For more information, click here.
As a choreographer, Steve approaches his work with humor, creativity, and curiosity. He invites dancers and non-dancers to join him in the artistic process. Musicians, designers, writers are frequently integrated and emphasized throughout his collaborative journey. Currently developing work exploring themes of loss. Two of which (Easy to Lose, and Winners Clean Up) premiered in NYC during his time with GibneyPRO.
Toured across Serbia, Macedonia, and Belgium as a dancer for BYU’s American Folk Dance Ensemble and as a principle percussionist for the NEOJIBA orchestra in Salvador, Brazil. Steve is also a graphic designer.
